Felting is not just handicraft, it is the real art. Dry felting closer to the sculpture, wet - this is, in fact, voluminous watercolor. This flower, almost indistinguishable from living, was created using both techniques. After spending only one evening, you will get a stylish exclusive brooch, and if you wish, then a necklace.

REFERENCE. When felting, strained wool is used, which you can easily find in the store for hobby goods. On the bag with wool it is always indicated what type of felting it is intended for.

What materials and tools are needed?

  • wool for wet felting (red and another 1-2 shades of pink);
  • green wool for felting;
  • some black beads;
  • liquid soap;
  • sewing supplies: needle, thread (red and black);
  • pimply packaging film ("pimple");
  • mesh (mosquito or for steaming clothes);
  • a bottle of water with a spray;
  • rubber gloves;
  • needle for felting

First you need to expand the wool on the "pimple". Pull out strands of petals of red wool.

TIP. Hold a skein of wool in your left hand, leaving a small end loose. With your right hand, gently pull the end of the skein, and you will have a lock of wool in your hand.

Dumping details

Fold the strands in half. From the resulting petals form two blanks in the shape of a flower. In the middle of each of them spread out the fibers of light pink and yellow-green colors. If in addition to the brooch you want to make a necklace, form small flowers out of wool.

Cover the blanks with a net, moisten with water from the sprayer and squeeze a few drops of liquid soap onto each flower.

Wear a rubber glove and begin to rub flowers.

Start with light movements and gradually increase pressure. Do not overdo it, otherwise the wool is attached to the grid! As long as the fibers do not mate, you can correct the flowers with your hands.

Remove the grid and continue to “massage” the flowers with light movements with a little pressure. On well-knit parts, separate wool fibers should not be visible.

Now the shape of the flowers can be adjusted with scissors. Pause the work pieces a little more to round the edges of the cuts. Rinse and dry the finished parts.

ATTENTION. The warmer the water in which you wash the felted products, the more shrinkage they give.

The poppy core is made using the technique of dry felting. Roll of green wool in a ball pierce it with a needle for dry felting until it becomes dense. If you make a necklace together with a brooch, make red beads in the same way. Here is the finished ball:

And now we will collect ornaments

In the center of the workpiece, which will be on top, secure the green ball. Sew it up so that the black thread divides it into several equal parts. It should look like a poppy box.

Sew black beads around the base - they will serve as stamens. Then skip the red thread through the petals and pull it a little to get the flower to the desired shape.

Insert the top blank with the core into the bottom, fasten the parts with pins and sew with red thread. Pass the thread through the lower tier of the flower.

Now you only need to sew to the flower mount for brooches. Collect a necklace from small poppies and red beads. Or you can have a bracelet!
